As many of you may already know, the Illini West Board of Education approved a Return to School Plan at its regularly scheduled board meeting on July 21st. Included in the plan were tier-based COVID-19 mitigation measures. In short, the way the district will operate will be dependent on the positivity rate of COVID-19 in Hancock County.
The tier status for the district will be released each Sunday for the upcoming week in a communication from the district. The status will also be posted on the district website and our Facebook page.
Some of you may be wondering how this rate is calculated. It is described briefly in the plan, but in an effort to provide the greatest degree of transparency possible, we will also be providing the data used to calculate the tier status.
As a quick reminder, the tiers are:
Low Transmission: Positivity rate increasing by <10% for two consecutive weeks in community.
Moderate Transmission: Positivity rate increasing for 2 consecutive weeks by more than 10%, but less than 20% each week in the community.
High Transmission: Positivity rate increasing for 2 weeks, by > 20% each week in community
The district will use this spreadsheet to calculate the tier status. The spreadsheet will also be available to view on the district website. Per the plan, the data is collected from the CDC.
THE TIER STATUS FOR THE WEEK OF JULY 26, 2021 IS LOW TRANSMISSION.
