Notification of Threat Against IWHS

This morning, at approximately 7:50 AM, Illini West High School administrators were made aware that one of its students had made a threat against the school. School administrators immediately initiated an investigation and notified law enforcement The student was identified and met at the door upon entering school where an interview was conducted and the district's threat assessment protocol was implemented. The student indicated that he made the comment, but that he did not have any intention of acting on the comment. The student and his belongings were searched, and no items of a dangerous nature were discovered. Based upon the interview, the search, and the initial stages of the threat assessment protocol, it was determined that there was no threat to the school environment. The incident is being reviewed for further action by Illini West High School District # 307.
