New Executive Order Requires Exclusion of Positive/Probable Cases and Close Contacts

Dear IW Families:

I am sorry to begin the week in this manner, but the Governor has issued a new executive order. A synopsis is below and it is in effect as of today.

Executive Order 2021-24 requires school districts to exclude any student or school personnel who is a confirmed COVID-19 case or probable case for at least 10 days; and anyone who is considered a close contact for a minimum of 14 days or as otherwise directed by the local health authority. Remote instruction must be made available for students excluded from in-person instruction pursuant to this Executive Order.

The order is linked above for those who care to read it, but in its simplest terms all positive cases, probable cases, and close contacts reported to the district must be excluded from school with the total number of days to be determined by the circumstances.

I know many of you will have questions regarding this new executive order. Please know we are working diligently to assess this order and understand a multitude of issues as it relates to the new order. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions. I will provide further updates as new information becomes available.
